Ukrainian military officials confirmed that satellite internet speeds have returned to levels above 400 km/h. This marks a full recovery from the reduced bandwidth that affected the country's communications networks earlier this week.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the restoration in a video address on the morning of October 24, 2026. He stated that the Starlink and Starshield systems are now operating at their pre-restriction capabilities. Zelenskyy emphasized that the regained speed is necessary for frontline logistics and for defending against jet-powered Shahed drones.

Before the presidential address, experts from the Ministry of Defence recorded initial speeds exceeding 161 km/h. The ministry later issued an official statement confirming that both systems were registering speeds above 400 km/h with a stable connection. Zelenskyy noted that speeds began recovering overnight and reached the required threshold by morning.

The disruption followed a period where equipment operated at speeds between 130 and 161 km/h in several sectors along the line of contact. Zelenskyy previously described these limits as interfering with logistics and restricting drone usage. The technical drop in performance drew political attention, with US President Donald Trump claiming on October 16 that the White House was not involved in limiting the system's use.

Separate reporting from The Telegraph indicated that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk proposed restricting the bandwidth of the satellite networks used by the Ukrainian military. The recent restoration confirms the end of that temporary cap on data transmission rates for the armed forces.
