A major manhunt has been launched across the British capital after a prisoner managed to force his way out of a healthcare center in the southeastern part of the city. The suspect, Anthony Lloyd, is currently at large, and law enforcement agencies are treating the situation with high urgency due to potential dangers he presents to those around him.

Lloyd exited the facility in Lewisham shortly after four in the afternoon on Friday. A police statement released the following day indicated that witnesses last saw him moving toward the Catford district around 4:10 pm. Since then, he has remained missing, leading investigators to believe he could be hiding anywhere within the metropolitan area.

The thirty-eight-year-old man was originally convicted in 2025 for causing actual bodily harm. That conviction stemmed from an incident in Nottinghamshire that involved three emergency service workers. He received a one-year prison sentence and was later transferred to the Lewisham medical unit in September. Police describe him as white, standing approximately five feet and eight inches tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a grey-blue t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.

Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, who is leading the operation, emphasized that officers are conducting a wide range of significant inquiries to locate Lloyd and bring him back into custody. She highlighted that the primary concern is the risk he poses to both himself and the general public. Consequently, she urged members of the public to avoid approaching him and to dial the emergency number immediately if they catch a glimpse of him.

Pressley also appealed to the community for assistance, asking anyone with relevant details, no matter how small, to contact police without delay. She noted that the suspect has connections to several regions outside the capital, including Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. These links suggest he may attempt to travel to familiar areas, which has complicated the search efforts.

Residents are advised to stay alert and report any sightings by calling the emergency line. When making the call, they should quote the specific reference number CAD4739/23Oct to help officers track the report quickly. The investigation is expected to continue throughout the weekend as resources are deployed across the suspected zones.
