A drive-by shooting outside a popular entertainment venue in Queensland has left four people injured and sent a shockwave through the local community.

Queensland police responded to a licensed premises in Loganholme, located south of Brisbane, at 8:15 pm on Saturday evening. Officers arrived after receiving reports that shots had been fired from a passing vehicle. The vehicle was observed leaving the scene shortly after the incident. Four individuals sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, where medical staff are currently assessing their conditions.

The venue, Fitzys Loganholme on Bryants Road, was hosting the Logan City Titles Fight Night, an event intended to celebrate local boxing talent. Chris Stream, the deputy commander for Queensland police, described the scene as confronting. He confirmed to the Today show that several attendees suffered gunshot wounds during the event.

Local leaders have expressed deep concern over the sudden violence. Jon Raven, the mayor of Logan, stated that residents in the area were frightened by the incident. He noted that this type of event is unprecedented in the region, telling the program that his thoughts were with the victims, staff, and everyone present at the venue. Raven emphasized that the night had previously been a family-friendly environment with many children in attendance.

Raven highlighted that the event was specifically organized to steer young people away from violence and help them reconnect with their communities. He explained that the organizer uses boxing to empower youth who might otherwise be heading down the wrong path. The mayor suggested that the organizer would be devastated by the turn of events, as the incident runs contrary to the event's core mission. He added that the trauma could impact the children involved for the rest of their lives.

In a statement posted on social media on Sunday morning, the Logan City Titles organizers expressed their heartbreak over the incident. They described the night as a community showcase for hard work and local skills. The statement emphasized that such violent incidents have no place in the boxing community or the broader public. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to the sport and its positive influence on local youth.

Police continue to search for the offenders, who remain at large. Authorities stated that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public. Investigators have urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and make contact with the police force.
